How
to use your new Your Name in Chocolate molds.
Making
chocolates and confectionery in your new molds is fun and easy. All
you need is a microwave and a microwave safe container and either confectionery
melts or chocolate to cast in your molds.
A
double boiler will also work and so will a small chocolate melting pot
that can sometimes be purchased from larger craft stores. You can easily
make your own double boiler by using two pans on a stove top as well.
Most
larger craft stores now carry several flavors of Wilton Candy Melts®
or you can purchase Ghirardelli Chocolate from most larger grocery stores.
Melt
the confectionery according to the instructions on the bags. If you
are using Ghirardelli or other types of chocolate, you will need to
make sure you don't over heat it or heat it to fast. Once it starts
to melt, it will continue to melt into a thick liquid fairly quickly
while you stir it. Over heating it will make the fine oils separate
and ruin the chocolate or confectionery. Be patient, this is the part
that will make the difference in making successful castings.
Spread
wax paper on your counter or table top to catch the confectionery you
will scrape off of your molds. There is never any waste as you can continue
to re melt the confectionery from what you reclaim off of the wax paper.
Let any of the confectionery that gets on the wax paper cool, and you
will be able to simply peal it off and re use it.
Place
the clean molds on the wax paper and spoon the melted confectionery
into the molds. Pick up the mold and tap it to the table top to get
any air bubbles to leave the surface of the mold so they don't leave
voids on the finished pieces. Scrape off any excess off of the backs
of the molds onto the wax paper for later use.
Let
the molded confectionery cool in the molds. Pick up the molds and turn
them over with your hand under them to catch the confectionery in case
it falls out of the molds. If it does not come right out, simply put
a little pressure on the face of the mold to press it out and release
it. Scrape off any flashing that may be on the edge of the casting and
they are ready to serve or package for serving later.
You
can put the finished castings in cellophane bags available at most craft
stores and use labels, tape, or ribbons to close them. Depending on
the event you might be doing this for, you can use different colored
confectionery, ribbons, and other decorations to accent your sweet castings.
You
can also use the castings to decorate cakes, cupcakes, graham crackers,
pies, and many other things for your events. They can also be put on
a paper doily or fancy paper piece to accent a table setting. Your imagination
is the only limit for what you can do with your new molded confectionery
pieces.
